As a vegan one of my favourite foods is tofu. I was excited when my sister gave me the Raw Rutes Tofu a Press as a gift for my birthday. I love the modern and sleek design not to mention the functionality of the unit. The tofu press is made of high quality materials that will last years to come.
The press itself is super easy to use and drains the water perfectly from the tofu. I have also used this to draw water from my cooked leafy vegetables.

I chose to buy this product because it is not plastic and it's made to last. Although I am sure there are plenty of useful plastic presses, I'm trying to buy fewer plastic items when I can help it.

This is a really great tofu press. It is very high quality. I don't feel like I could break it if I tried. Just put the tofu in and let the weight sit for a bit. I usually press down for 5 or 10 seconds to start as well. Then you are done.
It's also easy to clean. No nooks or crannies to get stuff caught in. Only con is that it's very expensive. Every other tofu press I had seen was kind of cheap looking though and I couldn't imagine them lasting very long. In the end I decided that I'd rather pay more up front for something that would last more or less forever than pay less for something I'd be replacing maybe every 5 years or however long they last.
This is truly a beautiful item and does a great job of getting liquid out of the tofu. Today I got the frozen tofu from the freezer, thawed it, and pressed it. (By the way, you are not really pressing the tofu. The heavily weighted top piece does the work!) After pressing the block, I sliced it and again pressed the slices. What a super easy tool to change water-pack tofu into a form that can be used in so many ways. For a few years I have done the manual method, thinking save my money and do my own thing. I am glad I decided to go for it and pay for an all stainless steel, 5-star quality tofu press.
